Operating psychiatric hospitals is one of our strengths.

Our team has developed dozens of psychiatric hospitals and units within hospitals.

For most acute-care hospitals, operating psychiatric services presents formidable challenges:

  • Building relationships with key physicians, and expanding geographic reach
  • Recruitment and retention of best clinicians available
  • Reimbursement questions and maximization

Yet, especially as the population ages, there’s a growing need for psychiatric services — a need that in many parts of the country is not being met.

For a growing number of hospital partners, SeniorHealth fills that gap, in ways that create wins for the acute-care hospital, wins for physicians and wins for patients.

America is growing older — and more in need of what SeniorHealth delivers.

One in five Americans is now age 55 or older. By 2030, that ratio will grow to nearly one in three.* This simple reality leads to another: Older adults require more psychiatric services than younger people.

The demand for psychiatric services is increasing. And the supply is not keeping pace.

As this trend builds momentum and providers struggle to meet the demand, expertise in operating psychiatric services is crucial. More patients are being diagnosed with co-morbid conditions, many of which are recognized by Medicare, resulting in increased reimbursement during psychiatric stays.

SeniorHealth helps you meet these growing needs without adding new financial or administrative burdens to your hospital.

SeniorHealth works around your goals.

SeniorHealth helps acute-care hospitals add or enhance valuable psychiatric services while freeing them from the responsibility of developing and managing those services.

We’re flexible. SeniorHealth can build new facilities. Or renovate spaces within your hospital. Or manage units under contract. SeniorHealth can lease space for a psychiatric service from your hospital, operate a psychiatric service with you in a joint venture, or SeniorHealth can develop and own a new hospital on your campus or share ownership with you.

We take the time to understand your needs and priorities and structure arrangements to accommodate you.

We can furnish all the capital, freeing our hospital partners from financial responsibility.

We assume the risk.

SeniorHealth has a strong track record of delivering excellent clinical outcomes and financial returns.

We create wins for our partner hospital’s patients and the communities served.

Our partners are free to focus on what they do best.

Acute-care hospital partnerships

One of SeniorHealth’s primary goals is to partner with an acute-care hospital in each community we serve.

SeniorHealth offers acute-care partners a variety of flexible options for working together, all structured to create a win-win relationship. Those options may include:

  • SeniorHealth can share ownership in a new hospital or if the acute-care hospital has psychiatric services, we buy into a joint venture, lease the facility from the acute-care hospital, or use other means for SeniorHealth to help grow the services.

  • SeniorHealth can manage psychiatric services within the partner’s hospital. In any arrangement, SeniorHealth assumes financial risk; if patient service volumes are below acceptable levels, SeniorHealth takes most (if not all) of any financial loss.

In a way to assure the acute-care hospital of meaningful profits, SeniorHealth’s hospital purchases ancillary services from the acute-care hospital such as radiology and laboratory services.

SeniorHealth leadership has more than 100 years of combined experience in the specialized management of psychiatric services.

Our leadership team has worked with more than 50 hospitals in developing and operating psychiatric and rehabilitation programs.

We are progressing with an aggressive growth plan and have built and opened three new hospitals in the last two years, and we have five hospitals under construction.

Since our company was founded in 1990, we have partnered with hospitals of all types and sizes: rural and urban, large and small, not-for-profit and investor-owned, sole community providers and urban facilities in highly competitive markets.

On behalf of our partners, SeniorHealth has:

  • launched or expanded clinical programs
  • recruited physicians
  • resolved major operational issues in turnaround situations

While the scope of SeniorHealth services differs with every hospital, several common threads run through them all: a commitment to our partners’ success, services that meet high standards and exceed expectations, and a long track record of results.

As part of the broadened continuum of care that we create, we also focus on building strong relationships with primary care physicians in your area.

Wins for your hospital. Wins for your patients. Wins for your community.

Partnering with SeniorHealth benefits your hospital in ways that also benefit patients throughout your service area:

  • New or stronger revenue streams
  • Improved clinical results
  • Extended continuum of care
  • Increased patient volume
  • Less out-migration of patients to other hospitals for psychiatric care
  • Improved communication with patients and families
  • Increased physician involvement in the hospital

We invite you to discover for yourself why more hospitals are turning to SeniorHealth to manage the challenges and capitalize on opportunities in your service area.

Take the next step.

At no cost or obligation to you, SeniorHealth will be happy to provide a comprehensive analysis to assess how your hospital might benefit from the services we offer.

Based on the results of this feasibility study — which will require minimal time and resources from your staff — we will submit a written proposal outlining the programs that we believe will fit your hospital’s needs, along with projected financial results.

Please contact us by phone or email to take the next step. We look forward to working with you.
